Educate-A-Child Programme

About the Programme
Educate-A-Child Programme seeks to bridge the gap of lack of quality education and skills for children who are in Early Childhood Development (ECD) up to Secondary school level, especially those from low to non-income households.
Approximately 40% of young children in South Africa grow up in conditions of abject poverty due to the socio-economic circumstances of their families. The children raised in such poor families are robbed of an opportunity to realise their potential and being prepared for a brighter future. BonguLwazi Foundation’s view is that a good quality education provides substantial socio-economic benefits to a household with income deprivation, including those who are faced with unemployment, low earnings and dependency on government social grants. We thus intend to foster a bright future for each child from our targeted geographic areas in Gauteng Province irrespective of their background.

Our intervention is mainly focused on providing support to an independent school, called BonguLwazi Montessori School (BMS) which is operational since September 2018 and is established to focus on communities in the cities around Gauteng area in South Africa. The school has adopted children from low-income households in Ebony Park and Ivory Park close to Tembisa township and it plans to make more impact in this area through the support of willing funders.
BonguLwazi Foundation will support the school through its “Educate-A-Child” initiative by focusing on sponsoring education for children from low- to non-income households. Link to this programme is the I-Care Programme that provides a feeding scheme and total hygiene care for these children.
