Ms. Rebecca Hlabatau


Ms. Rebecca Hlabatau, a qualified Chartered Accountant, is currently the Chief Financial Office (CFO) of the Cross Border Road Transport Agency (C-BRTA). She has twenty (20) years CFO experience in the public sector in companies like Legal Aid South Africa, Department of Health (North West Province) and over 27 years finance and audit experience obtained in both the private (i.e. KPMG, PricewaterhouseCoopers, among others) and public sectors in South Africa.

She has a strong technical knowledge and application of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Generally Recognized Accounting Practice (GRAP) and the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), coupled with excellent strategic and operational financial skills. Ms. Hlabatau has proven ability to manage organisational finances, led the external audit processes and engaged the external auditors resulting in 16 consecutive unqualified audit opinions. She serves in various organisations as Trustee and Audit and Risk Committee Chairperson, such as in Women’s Legal Centre.

She holds the BCOMPT (HONS)CTA, Advanced and Postgraduate Diplomas in Accounting Science (CTA) from the University of South Africa (UNISA), IFRS Certificate from Wits University, and other leadership development qualifications, including the USA International Leadership Programme from USA Bureau of Education.
